Horrendous accommodation. Walls are paper-thin; you can hear everything your flat mates are up to 24/7. Extractor-fan doesn't lead anywhere so the kitchen fills with smoke ultimately leading to a fire-alarm that takes 4 hours for someone to turn off. Post-room has items missing from it daily. Amazon and other deliveries have no idea where this place is.

On the other hand, WiFi is free and consistent. No problems with water or electricity. You have a roof over your head for a cheap price. Overall though, I would not stay here again.

Cathedral Street is okay overall. Especially good for the amount of money you pay. It has everything you need and the management that run it are really genuine and easy to contact. Sam Ganley the Touchstone rep is a really friendly and approachable guy, don't hesitate to throw him an email if you have any questions.

The flat appearance itself is pleasant, it has a few nice decorations but it is rather basic as well. Nothing fancy, just necessities. Which is all I really wanted. The bedrooms are nicely sized but vary greatly, we've got a mixture of single and double beds in our flat although this is usually due to the size of the rooms. There are a couple of downsides to the rooms in our flat. The toilet is very small, like a broom cupboard. The shower is also pretty cramped and a lot of mold has built up in there because there is no window. There is also no window in our Kitchen. Not really a big thing for me, but it can cause the room to become very smokey and set the fire alarm off. Living room is fine, couple of sofas and a coffee table along with a normal telly.

The position of the building overall isn't amazing, but the windows help block out most of the noise. If you're on the inside of the building like I am, you'll get a lot of noise during the day from the college that is literally next door. At night, peoples voices will echo really loud due to the way the building is curved. But like I said, having the window closed keeps most of this out, unless someone is screaming. The distance from the University is the farthest I think in comparison to other halls. Although it is still really close. Usually about a 15 minute walk.

If you're into your clubbing, cathedral street is literally right next to all of the big clubs and the high street itself. So you won't have to worry too much about getting home safely, although you are next to some major roads so still be careful! There's a Spar about a minutes walk away and a Tesco Express a little further down at the top of the high street. You're also about 10 minutes walk from the Coach and Train station if you head straight down the main road passed the Premier Inn.

Safety is average, I know that since moving in they've installed a couple of CCTV cameras but there is no kind of reception to the halls themselves. They're more like actual flats. You've a main front door to your block which will open with one key. And then the main flat door and your bedroom door which both open with the same key. Although you can't use your key to open other bedrooms and the other way around.

Internet is pretty good, only had a couple drop outs and a slow down or two. You get 20mbs speed as standard but have the possibility to upgrade that. Although it is pretty expensive. Nothing is blocked so far as I know, and I go on a lot of things. Only problem is setting up consoles I think, you usually have to call up the guys that run the internet and get them to authorise it.

If you're planning on ordering post, don't order anything valuable. There's been a lot of problems with access to the mail room which means the post man either leaves stuff outside the post room or the flats themselves, leading them to be stolen or misplaced. There's an Amazon locker in the student bar if you're ordering from there. Or try to order to one of the nearby post offices. There's a coop about 5-10 minutes walk down monks road with a post office.

A nice tip would be to order your shopping online. From the likes of Asda or Tesco, whoever is your preference. The nearest supermarkets are a long walk away and my food had started to defrost by the time I had gotten back. It's also a lot to carry that distance. So ordering to the flat is the best option, they'll usually call you when they're outside which is convenient as there isn't anything like a buzzer to the flats.

Overall, Cathedral Street is okay. Few little things that niggle at me, but I am rather picky. I've tried to outline as much as possible to give possible tenants the idea of what it's like. There wasn't much to go on when I was looking so wanted to provide that to others. At the time of writing I'm paying £77 a week for a 4 bedroom flat. Although I know this is going up next year along with an installation of Apple TV to each living room? I think.
