In general, the Orient House is in a nice location although its not the most interesting area of London, but its extremely expensive for a student dorm (you still have to buy all the appliances by yourself anyway) and you feel controled. Checking in overnight guests and even day guests makes you feel uncomfortable and doesnt even make sense from a safety point of view because everybody can come and go at any time anyway.

But then... there was supposed to be television in the internet package which is not working, the windows can not be opened, even after signing a form that its not their fault if I jump out of the window, and every week there is a different nuissance: First they have to install restrictors (again) on the windows, then they have to come in an measure the internet strength, then we have to clear out the fridge for maintenance, that is not even happening in the end. In winter, my window broke and they let me be in that cold room for the whole weekend with the window "fixed" with my books in front of it. Everything in the kitchen is broken all the time, but complaints are never followed up on. The kitchen floor is supposed to be cleaned which happens rarely and I never receive any notification for my mail, which just ends up sitting on the counter until I specifically ask for something that I wait for. And in the end, they even have their staff meetings in our common room, which makes you feel like you are generally an intruder in a not so well working office, instead of at home with fellow students and your freedom.

Having lived all my student life in dorms, this is the least pleasant experience which costs the most money. Dont do it.
