Student accommodation with nice rooms and ideal location for tube access. However expensive rent is not justified. Smart TVs advertised but cannot access internet. Sky TV advertised but not installed. 24 hr security advertised but management actually only work 9-11 and 15-17. Don't work weekends.
Management not friendly and always seem reluctant to help. Charge £55 for any service outside of their above working hours. Very slow to action any request or complaint. Basically - awful!
They are unwilling to put post in rooms even when you're out at lectures and can't see them during their working hours. Can't access a Hoover if you're at lectures during their working hours.
Overall their level of care and responsibility is horrendous and not enough require for such a role. This has ruined my year long stay at this accommodation and is the reason I do not recommend the Lyra to anyone

To be honest, I like the Lyra for the quality of rooms they provide. At the same time, its strategic location (1min from underground) makes it ideal for students like me.

However, the way that the accommodation is managed is absolutely fucked up. I re-call not being able to adjust room temperatures during winter times, as initially the management team has barred tenants from changing the thermostats. After a 3 month long campaign and actually making a formal complaint to the head office in liverpool, the issue was resolved.

I'm not sure about other people, but I chose the Lyra bevause it is a private student accommodation. That means I don't want to participate in fucking egg hunts or be disturbed with regular 'room checks'. As I could've just chosen to stay at uni accommodation who charges 1/4 of what the Lyra is charging. I can see where they are coming from with the whole room check thing, but please don't tell me and judge how messy my room is (it is very messy, but hygiene) cause it's none of your fucking business.

Also, the official office hours here are 0900-1700. But in fact it's actually 0900-whenever they are free. The 'back in one hour sign' is way too familiar with annoyed tenants at lyra.

Laundry: since when did it become logical or sensible to have three washers and three dryers for 2 blocks of tenants with approximately 1-200 students. I mean, it maybe ok if the machines aren't always 'out of service'.

Security, security is an issue here as there are no security officers on watch after the office closes at 1700. The whole building is access controlled with fobs and cameras. However, if fobs/cameras are enough as a crime deterrent, then why the fuck do we still need the police? There has been reports of affray and tenants being harassed in the building, but after complaining, they just told us to phone 999 in emergencies. I'm sorry, perhaps the management have their heads so far up their ass that they don't realise the reception/phone signals are close to shit/zero at lyra.

In addition, if u forget ur keys outside office hours, there will be a £50 call out charge and a two to three hours wait for a contracted security company to come open ur door. However I don't see the fucking point of outsourcing security contracts to a company that requires three hours to respond to emergencies.

So future tenants, it really boils down to what you're looking for.
