TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT

Morrison Circus has a feel to it that no other student accommodation has, the community feeling is amazing compared to other accommodation. Rooms are good sized and practically furnished, 2 bathrooms per flat (each flat has 4 rooms) all flats are single sex. Kitchen/Living room is a good size with two sofas, one a three seater the other a two. Massive TV though its seldom used. I would without a doubt recommend Mo-circ to anybody, however the management leads me not to.

The management is awful, the issues we have are countless. The building manager is the most unprofessional woman alive. Issues will take months to be fixed, emails will be left without a reply, and unreasonable and hot headed responses are common if issues are brought to the table. The wifi is provided by keysurf and calling it wifi is a joke, its so slow and its often impossible to connect to. Nothing has been done to combat this by the management despite many complaints from numerous people.

Security? What security? There isnt any. There has been at a guess around 10 break ins in the past 4 months. To be fair much of this is due to the manner in which students live, e.g. leaving front flat doors unlocked. There isnt a camera on the premises. For around a fortnight the building door was broken and anybody could wonder in.

A somewhat negative review... With a better building manager this accommodation would be perfect. Value for money is amazing and the location of Morrison Circus means a night out on grassmarket is but a 15 minute walk away. Great building and good atmosphere and location - management lets it down tremendously.

Moved in Sept 2015.

First impressions not great. Mouldy window sills, and lack of hot water really bothered me.

There is no point in having 4 people in a flat if there is not enough hot water for us all to shower that day??

Our job broke within the first few weeks but that was replaced quite quickly.

If you file reports about anything that broke such as lights etc it would take them so long to fix it. I'm talking weeks.

The atmosphere and social life here is quite bad in my opinion just because of the lack of people. The location however couldn't get much better, 5 minute walk for haymarket train station and about 15 mins from princes street. Busses to the uni campuses stop a 5min walk from Morrison circus and there are plenty shops close by.

Another thing that needs to stop is student wardens and 'maintenance men' just letting themselves into your flat or rooms whenever they like. Some times they don't even knock which is so rude especially when you are in your room!!

The only good points are that USL installed big TVs in the living area and also put in double beds which is great and also the location.

I've had nothing but problems since moving here. There is not enough hot water for four showers a day and this is a fact. Accommodation told us, weeks after we arrived, that we only get a certain volume of hot water allowance per day. If you don't get up early then you miss the water as someone has gotten in before you.

There is also not a lot of people in this accommodation so if you don't make friends then the social experience you'll have here will be terrible. Also, the windows in the bedrooms have constant mold growth and have not been treated at the source. On top of that, the hob broke in the kitchen and we couldn't make food because it tripped all the electricity in the house when it was turned on. Both lights in my bedroom have broken. And finally, the property has had countless break ins and thefts since being here.so overall, 100% WORST value for money.

However, the location is excellent and new mattresses have been put into the bedrooms and plasmas and new couches have also been placed in the living rooms! the accommodation officer, Lisa, is lovely and will aim to help to the best of her ability with any problems you have

Rooms are also very spacious and are equipped with a sink.

I love the people and atmosphere at Ms but that was the only thing I liked. Better management could have easily sorted this place out and turned it into a lovely student accommodation. -Here follows a list of all the things that was wrong with Ms - facilities such as showers not being functional on arrival, cookers tripping fuses, heater malfunction, lighting malfunction, SUPPER SLOW INTERNET (even though our contracts states 16mbs it was more around 200kbs/s), insulation, the water tank for each flat not big enough to hold enough hot water for all four occupants, the hurendus about of theft that went on (Brocken into and things stolen atleast 1 every 1-2 weeks), mold, useless rules (for example, not allowed any posters in the flat or you're not allowed to bring in electronics into the flat other than a laptop -noone follows these rules btw-), badly layer out parking scheme and to finish it off an angry management team that takes an age to get back to you and when they do instead of trying to sort out you're problem themselves they make the student Hall monitors plan and sort out you're problems (which does not work 80%) of the time. I belive that the management is treating this job Asif it self runs when it really dose not. And in my honest opinion they need to get replaced.

6 & 7 Morrison Court was a fun place to stay with a good environment, security was usually quick to respond. But didn't get much good value for money (ie have found other halls do more for the students), and wasn't much of a community if you hadn't made friends. But I enjoyed my time there and the rooms were relatively good sizes. The free bus was the best part!!
