Decent building for accommodation services. However for this kind of neighbourhood, it is way overpriced, and also the room that I was renting, the solo room, does not make up for the costly price. All the great facilities that was once there are all now removed. Not to mention, the staff, who are intrusive. They have every maintenance knock the door for checking, disrespecting tenant's privacy. On the other hand, the staff are all unprofessional and rude. The management is quite terrible. I asked four different members of the staff about storage, at different times, and all of them gave me wrong information about what I am asking. On the day of my departure, and eventual check-out of the place, I was really disappointed with the staff, they were quite helpless on certain matters, and one of them was really rude to me, just because I was asking for help. The security, was also very poor. Strangers coming in and out. And now, it does not feel student-friendly at all, as more business people are coming for hotel stays. I do not recommend this place at all, especially with people like the rude staff member being employed in this accommodation. Though all of this, I had made great friends with all fellow students.

Very attractive building and rooms.
The place is in a convenient location for me because my university is very nearby (Brick Lane). Shoreditch, the city and Tower Hill are all in short walking distance.

However, being on the edge of Whitechapel, you do not feel safe walking home, especially as a female. I have had somebody grab me by my hair to sniff it, somebody pull up their car in front of me at 2 am and try to make me get in, somebody threaten to kill me and a friend because we rejected his very polite offer to "suck his cock" all directly outside the building.
A couple members of staff are very nice but the manager is quite rude and condescending. He speaks to residents like we are silly little children. I don't think he runs the place very well either since for the past week we have had maintenance guys come EVERY MORNING to check up on our rooms. This is beyond annoying. They should do it after we move out which, for many of us, is in just a couple weeks.
I booked myself a solo room which is advertised as having a double bed. Most solo rooms do indeed have a double bed, so imagine my surprise when I show up to find myself in one of only 5 rooms equipped with a single bed, expected to pay the same price as for a double room and not allowed to switch.
When I moved in we had a nice cafe downstairs (unexpectedly removed at Christmas time), a pool table (all the balls have been removed, so nobody has been able to use it in months) and an area on the top floor where you are able to work, relax or have a drink with some friends while enjoying the view (has been being "re floored" for like 2 months and nobody is allowed inside). The gym, fitness suite and laundry room still work thank god!
Last but not least, when moving into "student halls" I expected them to be filled with fellow students. Although in my time here I made friends with a few other students, the building unexpectedly turned half of it's rooms into hotel rooms, mainly rented by foreign businessmen who come and go. Not the friendly student atmosphere most people are looking for...
