Worst Decision of my life

Value for Money:

MyPad Paisley was advertised at £80 or £85 a week, amazing price.. Right? Wrong. They failed to mention that they charge you five week months, meaning instead of paying £320 or £340 you pay £400 or £425 a month. Yet they still claim they're the cheapest accommodation in the area, ha.

The internet for this building didn't work for 6 MONTHS, meaning for 6 months we all struggled to do any form of college or university work since we had no internet access. Once it was fixed, we were paid £240 from the accommodation, which is no where near enough for something that was their fault and should never have happened or went on for that long.

Safety:

The security in this building (the FOB System) is horrendous. You can get into each floor without actually fobbing by simply pressing the door release or putting some pressure on the door, which should legally set off an alarm notifying security or management, it doesn't.

There are about 6 CCTV Cameras in this building, pointing at the stairs, however you can get up through every floor without being seen by the CCTV because it doesn't point at the elevators or the mail boxes (meaning you could in theory steal peoples mail if you were bothered enough). The only camera that will catch you is the one at the entrance, but it's at such a bad angle you can just cover your face anyway. Why does this work? There is no log book to sign for 'visitors'.

The accommodation has recently started this "student warden" thing. What does this mean? Well none of us actually knew either until we asked SECURITY ourselves. Problem here though, but I'll get to that in a second. Student Wardens are basically students that sit in their room and claim to do things, you contact them if you want your mail or stuff, cool. Problem? MyPad claims to have 24/7 security or on site accommodation team, however from the hours of 5 till 11PM on week days, we have neither. Saturday and Sunday? We have nothing from 9AM until 7PM. Nothing, at all. Safety!

There are also a few students in this building that have access to every floor because they have a Master FOB meaning they can get into anyones ktichen and steal things from them.

Management:

The management in this building are so unprofessional it's ridiculous. The temper on our manager is horrendous, and he gets pissed off at simple things such as a few days late rent (which is because their RENT System doesn't work.)

We don't actually think the management in this place know what they're doing, since everything that has happened this year has been completely against our tenacy agreement. They love getting involved in things that have nothing to do with them, such as students PRIVATE facebook conversations. It's like living in a college itself.

Quality of Rooms:

The rooms are tiny. Some are different sizes, some have different things in them. Some people had single beds, some people had beds that were horrible to sleep on and were NEVER replaced because they never had enough money to buy a new one. (There are 200 students in this building paying on average £380 a month, you can do the math.)

The plumbing in this building is horrible, the showers smell horrendous if you don't turn them on at least once a day (which is bad if you're away for two weeks for christmas) and the toilets, even if you flush it and don't use it for an hour, go back and it'll look like someone has taken a poo in it. Things come back up, lovely.

Peoples windows don't work, or they do, or then they don't again. We have inside windows and outside, which is pretty niffty, if the windows worked all the time and didn't decide they were going to open when you're sleeping. (Yes, they open themselves sometimes. How does that work?)

Location:

The location of MyPad Paisley isn't that bad, we have shops around us and easy access to trains and the universities and colleges. Problem? (Something they NEVER mentioned) was for nearly 3 months there is a festival kind of thing outside, meaning if you're at the front of the building, good luck getting to sleep at a normal time or not getting woken up at a stupid one.

Value:

There is no value. I guess the saying "you get what you pay for" doesn't even work for this. You're not getting what you paid for, why? 'All bills included' with no limitations apparently - yet, you have to pay to use the washing machines and tumble dryers, which is about £10 a go if you want your clothes to actually be washed and dried. The raditors are also on a timer, meaning you can't just turn them on when you're cold, this changed during the colder months, during the warm months you could turn it on whenever you want - yet no one had them on.

MyPad Paisley is cutting corners, they claim to have a "stress-free" living experience, yet all any of us has had in this building is stress.
