Lovely block of flats, really high standard. Only 5 minutes walk from shops and the Uni, and right next to the Barbican and Hoe - great for tea/coffee, little galleries, and eating out! Staff where great, really friendly, reception are super helpful and available 24/7
During my time in Plymouth i've been able to view many of halls in the area. They simply do not compare to the living conditions at Astor! The facilities are outstanding. Spacious rooms (some with amazing views) allow the perfect working and living area. The kitchens are state of the art, and well thought out common room areas allow for a great community feel. The team at Astor are always thinking up awesome events for the tenants. Wether that be a huge party or simply free breakfast in the morning. It just shows how they are always thinking of you. The staff are amazing and always willing to help. As well as this a member of staff are always readily available 24/7. This not only means you have a point of contact, but ensures the safety of the halls at all time. The location is perfect. The hoe is your back garden, and your only 5 minutes from the main shopping complex. It is by far the nicest area to live in Plymouth! I am currently in my second year and will be living at Astor for the entirety of my degree programme. I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else.
Such a lovely block of flats 5 minutes walk from the high street and the Uni plus next to the Barbican and Hoe so loads of nice places to get coffee, shop and sit in the sunshine!! The staff are fantastic, reception are super helpful and always make time for you and the guys in the facilities team are really quick to fix anything. Really really recommend it!
The staff are so friendly and helpful and the accommodation is kept to the highest of standards, with 24/7 maintenance and security there is always someone there for when things go wrong. They always have events going on and you really get the most for your money. You would regret it if you choose anywhere else in Plymouth! This is the best halls you will ever find in any University City.
Living at Astor is the best university experience ever! Choosing to live here again for my final year was the best decision I have made this year. Not only do I feel safe in my environment, I also feel comfortable to communicate with all members of staff at Astor and Rosie is the BEST receptionist we have had to date !
Overall Astor is an amazing place to live. It is just like a home from home, rather than just a place to stay! The staff are incredibly friendly and are always keen to help. The fact that there is always a member of staff on site 24/7 made me feel safe. Due to having a common room (for games) and the Sky Lounge (for studying) a great communal, fun atmosphere is created. The location is great, with the Hoe being so near for BBQs on a nice sunny day and the town center for shopping! The rooms are well kept and very modern which means my stay here as been well worth the money!
Having had experience in all of the halls in Plymouth during my time as both an undergraduate and postgraduate student, I can safely say that Astor house is by the far the best halls and the easiest recommendation to make. To start with the rooms are very modern, incredibly clean and also rather spacious. They all come with plenty of storage space (double wardrobe, lots of drawers, shelves and extra storage space under each bed. Each room is also en-suite, with a lovely sleek bathroom including a good sized shower pod, or wet rooms available in the Accessible Rooms. Each cluster flat also has a large kitchen area, again with very modern fixtures and fittings. There is plenty of cooking space, as well as plenty of sitting space including sofas in each flat. The kitchen is ideal for getting together with your mates. There are also the common areas, the first of which is the Common Room. This area is downstairs opposite reception and has a ping-pong table, pool table, TV and games-console for everyone to uses (plus loads of seating and very large beanbags), there is also a graffiti wall for any artists to turn their hand to. (The on-site Laundry is also accessed via the Common Room). The second area is the Sky Lounge, this is at the top of the building and provides an excellent study area, complete with whiteboards and free tea/coffee to get you through those last minute 3am essays. Lets not forget about the free bike and surf stores, plenty of space to store your sporting equipment! Now one for the parent, the site is incredibly safe! There are fob access external gates to even get onto the site, fob access external doors to each building and another fob access flat door. Plus there is CCTV monitoring for all common areas, external doors and gates, and for all lifts; the cameras are always monitored to keep everything as safe and secure as possible. All of the above combined with the amazing staff, right through from Rosie on reception, to the Facilities Assistants (the helpful bunch of blokes that will come and fix any issues in your flats) and the managers, will make your stay in Astor House the best halls experience you could possibly hope for; a fantastic start to your life at uni!
I loved living at Astor House! I was so glad that I choose to stay at Astor. Me and my flat had such a great 1st year and we didn't want it to end. My room was fantastic. Loads of storage, my own ensuite with an amazing shower and great internet speeds. Any issues we had were quickly dealt with by the onsite management, and the maintenance staff that work day and night are Fab! The common rooms are awesome, firstly the Sky Lounge is great for studying and also has tea and coffee available 24/7 which is very handy for when we had to stay up all night to finish an essay. The main common room is also very good. Table tennis, pool table, tv, art wall and more and it is a great space to have and to be able to meet up with everyone. The management put on lots of events and giveaways throughout the year which helped everyone mix and meet new people . I made many lifelong friends at Astor, and also had some of the best times of my life here.
