Lancaster University, founded in 1964 and ranked in the UK top 10, has its campus at Bailrigg, around three miles south of Lancaster city centre. It is a collegiate university with nine colleges, each with its own accommodation and social spaces. Where do students live in Lancaster

Most students at Lancaster University live on the Bailrigg campus, which has around 6,700 bed spaces across the nine colleges and is largely self-contained with shops, cafés, bars and sports facilities. Students who live off campus tend to choose the Greaves and Bowerham areas of Lancaster city, which are the closest residential neighbourhoods to the campus and have good bus connections. Lancaster city centre, around three miles from campus, is a further option for students looking for private housing or PBSA with regular bus services to the university.

Regular bus services connect the Bailrigg campus with Lancaster city centre. Lancaster railway station has direct services to Manchester in around an hour, to London Euston in around 2 hours 30 minutes, and to Edinburgh in around 2 hours.
