- Castings is in a great location 5 minute walk to the university - Friendly stuff who are always on hand to help - Great rooms, ensuite is a good size - Always events going on! Would stay here again!
Stayed here in my first year, and decided to stay for my second. Modern, clean, close to university-which is important for my practical course. Nice views as well, and a lovely atmosphere. Of course no place is perfect, and there can be some maintainence issues, but staff are friendly and helpful whenever this happens.
Checking in was simple and welcoming. The staff are lovely and generous people who are always happy to help no matter what the situation. The rooms are modern and spacious, and Uni is within walking distance. Living here for the 2nd year running and the only problems I've had personally are things being broken or fuses not working, yet the friendly and helpful maintenance staff are at your service 24 hours fixing problems for you as well as letting you into your flat when you've lost or forgotten your key! Would highly recommend :)
Very friendly staff who are always on hand to help. The accommodation is so excellent for the price. Really love living here and would book again! ?
The staff are nice and friendly Super convinient 3 mins to uni The events and treat days are great to have The new communal spaces are too fancy and things keep getting broken The pool table shoild requare some form of ID as it always gets vandilised along with the pool cues
Pool table always broke , gates never work , good location though
Outclasses all other Huddersfield accommodation. Enjoying my experience so far and will definitely return next year. Very close to the uni and the town. Great facilities and would definitely recommend.
Castings is great, the staff can't be helpful enough. Especially if you have a problem with anything in the flat. The rooms are lovely and the location is so close the uni. Would defiantly recommend
The Castings or Castings house, is the place to live if you are a student at the University of Huddersfield. Perfectly located across the road from the university, so that you can always make your 9am lectures even if you wake up late. The accommodation is sleek and well furnished and provides a lot of of the basic amenities a student needs! Fast Wifi, a Common room with a pool table and gaming rooms, a gym that residents can use and even a nice quiet study area for when it's time to finally get down to work. The staff is very helpful and there is always someone who is on site in case you lock yourself out of your room or are having a crisis in your flat. Another really nice thing that the staff do is that they organise events every month to provide the residents with some fun and stress relief. From the Welcome Party, to Halloween parties to movie nights and free food events, they really do alot for the students. Castings house is a great place to live and you will definitely be making the right choice moving here.
Lovely staff, fun events , rooms lovely and plenty of storage space.
Castings is a lovely place to live,
I have only recently moved into Castings House, due to problems at my previous accommodation, however I would fully recommend anyone to live here! With only a 10 minute walk to the main student union, and a 15 minute walk into the city of Huddersfield, the accommodation could not be better situated! The rooms are absolutely gorgeous with a 3/4 bed as standard in every room, so much better when you are used to having a double at home! Plenty of space with a relatively large wardrobe for student hallas, and a set off 3 deep drawers and also plenty of storage underneath the bed, not to mention the very well designed shelves into the bed itself. The bathroom is absolutely beautiful, made out of a single sheet of plastic, it is easy to keep clean and the numerous shelves help to keep everything organised in there! Not to mention the shower.. GORGEOUS, can honestly say that it is more powerful than my shower that I have at home! The bed itself is incredibly comfortable. The social spaces available are absolutely amazing and just what you need, and the additional study space makes it even easier when you need somewhere very quiet to complete work, rather than sticking within the 4 walls of your flat. Check in was so easy to complete and all the staff within the reception are very kind and understanding about everything, not to mention Michelle who has been in our positions herself only a few years ago, amazing woman and so easy to talk to! Castings also put on regular social events, and organise plenty of activities for everyone to complete.. Couldn't ask for anything better!! Such an amazing place to live, everywhere is so warm and cosy... Really does feel like my home from home!!
The check in experience made it really relaxed and easy as we didn't wait at all, staff are lovely. I didnt go to the part but heard it was good.
I'm so happy I chose to book at The Castings this year; in comparison to other accommodation within Huddersfield this is arguably the best value for money. Ideal location in the centre of town less then 5 minutes walk from the university! The staff engagement with students is fabulous, including the additional activities such as the welcome BBQ and free Halloween cocktails and face painting. Although the initial price of the basic rooms seems high, the money you save from not needing to get taxis to and from town and from it needing to travel by bus, the free gym (!!!) definitely makes up for the initial higher price! All in all this is for sure the best accommodation available in Huddersfield to date!
The staff here are really amazing. They help you out and are friendly. Check in was really smooth and I'm glad you feed us at the welcome party. :)
I have lived here since September and not had any problems what's so ever.
Couldn't love Castings more! All staff members really go out of their way to make sure you're feeling at home. Lots of criticism day to day, generally on Facebook but they are only human and they really do try their best. Its great to know that a few of them are former students too, they are young and know what we want and its easy to talk to them about university stuff.
staff are great however when events are held no one can actually attend because you close early and dont actually think about the students who all have lectures. The price paid for the room is just sad the room is so tinny no space for nothing. It is very anti social especially when you move into a flat where you have no friends nothing is done about it no actual social events. At least storthes hall done events in the evening to make sure everyone attended. Lastly the common room is in the worst location especially when you want to go to the study room you have to go through the social area to go and actually study. Disappointed. for the amount of money charged find something more bigger and more social dont fall for the looks of the pretty pink decorations after a while you will see it all.
The welcome party was very fun! The check in experience was very smooth and quick to complete, The staff are all friendly and always ready to help! Overall I would definitely recommend castings house to someone, you can roll out of bed at 9am and make it in for a 9.15am lecture on time!
It is a good accommodation and the staff are very friendly. You can't ask for better.
I'm 2nd year and its a good accommodation bit noisy some nights but thats normal due to freshers living it up but its not too loud. Staff are amazing really helpful and cater well when you need it and the flat/rooms themselves are 2nd to none loads of room big bed clean facilities really good place to stay
The Castings House is a really good accommodation to stay at! It is located really near to the university and only a short walk from town and the shops. The staff are really friendly and helpful if you need anything. The rooms are big and modern, and the kitchen is very spacious. I would definitely recommend living here to any students looking for accommodation!
This is by far the best student accommodation I have lived in. Staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are of excellent quality! Excellent value for money and really close to Uni, I will definitely be rebooking!
Such a nice place to live with friendly and helpful staff. Really close to uni and easy to walk into town. Always events going on in reception/the common room and a lively atmosphere across the site.
the staff are extremely friendly and are always willing to help if we have a problem! the rooms are lovely and hold everything that a student needs! they always put on fun events and get everyone involved! the accommodation is also only a short walk away, making it a lovely accommodation to stay at!
Was blown away at the quality of the rooms, definitely very premium and worth the extra cost against other accommodation Staff are very friendly and approachable Very close to Uni, can get out of bed and have a lecture in 5 minutes and still get there on time Has regular events, the best so far being bacon sandwiches being delivered to your room Has already rebooked
Couldn't of asked for a better place to stay, from day 1 there was a welcoming, friendly atmosphere. The accommodation is secure and the staff are lovely, always on hand to sort any issues out. Rooms are modern and it's only a 5 minute walk to campus. Would highly recommend these halls as there's never a dull moment. I've met my friends for life and now call this place home!!
The staff are lovely and always so happy to help! They constantly put on events and put out food and drinks for us and they always make you feel at home! The accommodation is so safe and if there are any problems they sort it out as soon as possible. Really nice modern rooms and not even a five minute walk to the uni! A great place to live for students!
the staff are so friendly and always there if we need anything! if there is a problem it is always sorted. the events are always fun to attend and include every student living there. The rooms are lovely to live in and have everything that you need as a student and it is also only a short walk to uni! it's a love place for us students to live at!
I've visited nigh on every student accommodation in Huddersfield now seeing mates and I would definitely say Castings is the best, it's new last year so all the furniture is modern, nice and clean. The shared kitchen/lounge is really nice with the free tv and creates a friendly atmosphere for you and your flatmates. Staff have always been lovely when I've spoken to them and there's regular events with free food and entertainment. No doubt that it's expensive but if you can afford it it's definitely worth it.
Since the day I moved in the staff have been nothing but friendly and welcoming and they are always happy to help. The themed parties are always a great laugh and you are never bored, I still have my balloon penguin from the welcome party in September! I would recommend this acommodation to everyone!
Aside from the obvious perks of the accommodation such as the great location and excellent facilities (I would have rebooked for the en-suite alone!), what's set Castings House above other accommodations I've lived in are the staff. They have always been very helpful, prompt when needed and help provide a friendly and positive atmosphere all-year round. You're treated as individuals and not just a huge mass of "young and dumb students". Communication is handled through email and their Facebook group, where any queries/requests are discussed publicly during the weekdays. One thing to bare in mind is unfortunately the overall cost, this is one if not the most expensive choice of student halls in the area. It is by all means worth the asking price, but many may want to consider their finances before opting to book a room. If you plan to work alongside your studies than I highly recommend Castings House. Otherwise, make sure you know how much money you're going to have after paying each rent installment.
Castings House is a really lovely place to live. The staff are wonderful and will always do the most to help you out in any way they can. They're just a call away 24/7 so if you have a problem you can always reach someone friendly. They often have fun little events and parties going on with free food, drinks, entertainment, etc. Facilities are amazing, cosy new rooms with ensuites all decorated and furnished really modernly. The common room has a ps4, TV with netflix, pool table, all that jazz. The only downsides are the price (it is expensive but you get what you pay for) and the location which is a little dodgy, but that can't be helped - plus it's literally less than 5 minutes from uni so there's an upside. :) I love living here!
The place itself is only a couple of years old and all rooms have nice ensuites and modern decor. I've lived here for two years and staff are friendly and helpful. There's loads of little events regularly giving out freebies too (ice cream, breakfast, waffles, to name a few). Location's great for uni (5/10mins). A good 10min walk to town/sainsburies or theres a little asda and iceland which I use. 20mins to train station. I would ask for a room not facing into the courtyard as students obviously can be quite noisy in the night.
I love it here, it's safe, friendly and there's always stuff going on. At the start of the term they make sure you get to know everyone and everything there is, with a welcome party (it's awesome by the way) and a welcome pack with all the useful stuff in. I cannot fault the staff here either, from the prodigy living team to maintenance everyone is friendly and really helpful. Feels so welcoming and a lovely home away from home Would so recommend it to anyone
The staff are very friendly, loads of events going on from free food to movie nights.the rooms are so big compared to most student halls!
I love it here, it's only a really short walk into university so it's really convenient. The rooms are done to a high standard and you get a lot of things that other basic accommodations don't offer. The staff are great and really helpful with everything.
The staff are all really helpful here and always put on events which are fun and give you free food ???????? the check in experience was really straight forward, only negative was the 30 minutes you are given to unload everything out your car to move in, but that's expected when there's so many moving in at once! The location couldn't be any closer to uni either.
Love the events and the accommodation in general! the place is great for anyone that is new in town because it gives you lots and lots of opportunities to socialize! The staff is great, always ready to help and very funny as well! Love it!
The staff are really friendly and if something needs fixing the maintenance fix it straight away. Close to the university and town centre. The second year I am living here. Kitchen is spacious as are the bedrooms
Castings House is a stones throw away from the uni and is modern and built to a high standard. All the rooms look brand new and the communal areas are big and modern as well. The staff are very welcoming and will literally bend over backwards for you! The maintenance team are usually on hand to solve any problems on the next working day!
There is constantly something going on whether its hotdogs and waffles Or mulled cider on bonfire night. If there is ever an issue there's always someone to call and help and it will get fixed in no time. The rooms are lovely and homey. Also the five minute walk to uni is something I'll definitely miss.
The welcome party was good, there was lots of things to do and we could meet other people who lived at the accommodation. The check in experience was easy and everything was explained, fast process. The staff are friendly and easily excessable. Would reccomend.
I'm a first year student and I wanted to live within a close proximity to the uni. This is the perfect location as it is a 5 minute walk from the university. Given, you can sometimes hear other residents, but that will be the same with all student accommodation. When i first checked in, the staff was warm and eelcoming, and the wlelcome oparty was good too. Overall, this is a great place to live, with plenty of friendly staff that wee willing to help at any point throughout the stay.
I enjoy living here as it's very modern and close to the uni. Think it is quite pricey for what it is especially since the prices are going up in 2016. Needs a gym!!! But overall it is very chic and there are always freebies and events planned.
The parties and staff are perfect,
Awesome staff, great welcome party and probably the best accommodation in Huddersfield.
It's a good place to live. Yeah there's a bit of noise here and there but hey, wouldn't you expect that?
castings is very expensive and is definitely overpriced especially for the area. However, I love the rooms, although some find it small. The team are lovely, and very helpful if there's anything you need fixing!! Overall, it's a good accommodation, the let down is that it is over priced. But I'm staying next year!!
This is my second year living at the Castings and I still love it as much as I did last year! One reason i rebooked is because of how safe i felt living here and how the staff go out of their way to help when you need it The mini events the staff put on are always fun! I would definitely recommend this place to any student wanting a quality, modern place to live during University!
Castings House is lovely in general, but the amount of noise you can hear made by other residents, from your room, on a daily basis is ridiculous. The walls are paper thin so you can hear pretty much everything! Other than that I'd highly recommend it, the staff are great and the facilities are well looked after!
Really nice room and the kitchen is great as you get sofas and a TV. I do however think it's price can put people off and it's going up again next year 16/17

The Castings has been an amazing place to live so far. The members of staff are so helpful - especially since I had to move my stuff in early. They also try really hard to make sure everyone feels valued and involved within 'The Castings Community'
Staff are helpful and friendly and willing to solve any problems which may occur.
The staff are very friendly and always put things on for the residents
When I first checked in it was an easy and stress free experience, the staff are welcoming and always there to help. I would definitely book again!

Poor student halls, the rooms are very small and very pink all over. The walls are very thin as you can hear everything above/below and next to you. The upside is that the halls are closer than the uni main halls Storthes hall which is miles away.
Poor accommodation, walls are so thin that you can hear the person above/below and next to you. So many problems with the rooms despite it being brand new.
A year has flown by and it could have been a very long year if not for the fact that I lived in such a brilliant student accommodation. I've felt like it has been my home away from home because as well as the facilities being really up to standard, the staff have been very welcoming and at all times - both the day and night staff are really efficient. I would recommend The Casting to any student looking for somewhere welcoming, modern, vibrant and with perfect location. LOVE IT!!!
The staff are all so lovely and any problems are resolved really fast. The mail handling system is also fab! Love it here.
Lovely accommodation with modern furniture! Close to uni 5 minute walk. It has all the facilities! Totally recommend. Great value for money
An excellent student accommodation, if every anything breaks (which is rarely) it is fixed right away. There is always security on site as well so you feel secure at all times. - Very close to university 5-10 minute walk - Excellent post collection service - Staff are all very friendly - Has nice atmosphere - The TV room and Common area are fab for relaxing with friends (or to crash in after a night out) Overall perfect accommodation with few problems and I will be staying here next year!
Accommodation is very close to uni and is best option out of competition. Good standard rooms and spacious kitchens really enjoyed my time here.
Fantastic place to live. My parents could not have been happier when I first moved because of the security systems. Repairs have always been done fast and with a smile. The Maintenence men are approachable as are all members of staff. The atmosphere is great, I couldn't have wished for anywhere better to live. The location is spot on, near everything that you could possibly need. Rooms are quite small but enough space to do what you need to do.
The Castings is an amazing student accommodation. The staff are friendly and super helpful and if you have any problems, then they sort them out straight away, simply brilliant. The flats are terrific! They're spacious and modern and very comfortable to both live and study in! The Castings is literally 5 minutes away from the Uni, 2 if you can speed walk. It's easy to find and get to, close to the town and shops so it's not a problem carrying shopping from a supermarket. It's a mini community and I've absolutely loved living there for this past year. I'd recommend it to anyone who's looking for accommodation in Huddersfield. Big thanks to the Castings for the past year!
great location, very friendly staff, really nice and modern in comparison with other student accommodations in huddersfield. The only down fall is the price £118 per week next year is just unaffordable for most students, personally I think there are lots of private accommodations just as nice for much less. Another down fall is parking, I had to pay £400 this year to park my car up the road it's just far too expensive especially when it's parked at the bottom of newsome, although this cannot be helped as the castings has no parking another £400 in Cash to the parking man in July, after the £400 in September is just unreasonable
5 minute walk from uni so great location, can be noisy at times as there are flat parties but nothing you would not expect from student accommodation. I have had problems with one of my flatmates and also noise once but the management team sorted it out right away, management and reception staff are friendly, and there's always lots of freebies which is good. Sometimes they give you free hot chocolate, cakes and breakfast. But fire alarms are sensitive and can be set off easily. At least we know they work lol I'm living here again next year as theres a good atmosphere and rooms are really nice. :)
