Chestnut House, Cambridge

Castle hill is a brilliant place to stay during your studies in Cambridge especially if you are an international student as there are meany different ethnics and it is easy to make friends and the staff are very hospitable and especially the building manager Donna when we ever have any problems she always makes sure that she will get you all the help you need the same day and also organises events and activities to help students get to know each other.

I lived in Chestnut House for 1 year - it's a good location next to Lidl and the management is really lovely! I felt really at home there. You feel safe walking in the area at night and it is quiet but not too far from the pubs and restaurants which is important. It is also nearer the west Cambridge site than any other flats currently available.

I question the validity of any bad review this place already has. 'HELL HOLE' is a ridiculous and childish hyperbole, obviously with an ulterior motive. The only downside to this place is the occasional disrespectful resident who has to be reprimanded for leaving out rubbish, which the bad reviews have quite likely come from. HELL HOLE is not a way I would describe this clean and newly built residence. I have enjoyed living here and will remain for the second year. With the place being new, there were some teething problems (over-sensitive smoke alarms, intermittent internet access, etc) but all are dealt with now and should no longer be a problem. The access to the town is excellent, very short walk to the river. Also very quick road access to the main motorways. Being brand new, the rooms are in excellent condition and very well sound proofed. I once heard music when in the hallway from my neighbour, but once I was in my room I heard nothing. Loud music for those who want it, peace and quiet for those who don't, everyone's a winner. Staff are very quick to see to issues. Only yesterday I reported the handle of my fridge coming off and it was fixed the moment I came back from classes.
