Exchange Works, Sheffield

My time at this accommodation has been cut short 3 months in due to excessive leaking that has led to flooding in my flat. Despite being aware of these issues, Exchange Works allowed myself and my flart mates to live in this dangerous environment. Upon arrival, parents questioned the empty bin left on the corridor, to which they were told there was some minor leaks in the summer that had been dealt with now. Our first leak occurred at the end of October, where we was left temporarily without electricity as leaks had gotten into light fittings and plugs and had major floods in the kitchen, corridor and rooms. Despite complaints, no further action was taken leading us to having to wait for the floods to clear up. This led to our next flood a month later that caused us to have to move out. At the beginning of this final flood, our education at university was cut short as we constantly were having to replace overflowing buckets in our flat with no support from EW despite complaints again. This got so bad that during the night we eventually had the night team called up to the room where we had all appliances turned off. By the morning, this meant we had no food to access and could not used anything to make food and was given no alternative. Action to move us out of the flat that by now had mould along the corridor from the first leaks (which were reported but had nothing done about it) and bedrooms and kitchen that had large puddles and water running down the walls. This was an unsafe environment from the beginning yet we was still made to live like this. We new yet to receive compensation which I would argue is highly necessary due to all the disruption, stress and inconvenience that has been caused as we have been paying for a service that we have not received.
