Firth point in Huddersfield is close to Uni and the rooms is nice. The maintenance is ok except the Internet. It is sign you out all the time and is too slow. Sometimes is a pain in the *** and have to top up your card all the time to have 3G in order to have INTERNET access. We mentioned it multiple times but it doesn't seem to do any change. I would not recommend Firth Point because Internet is horrible.
The rooms are good, the facilities are ok but you are able to use the common room at Saw mill
From my experiences this is the best hall in comparison to the other hall providers. Staff are friendly here and the room layout is really nice. There is a spacious desk and enough bathrooms. Overall it's been very comfortable and provided a great environment to work from.
There's not a lot of room and the common room itself is very small and only has one sofa. It's still better than Storthes Hall due to the location which is right next to the university instead of Storthes which is a bus ride away out of town. It's also much cleaner and overall the price isn't too bad in comparison to others. The key works for Saw Mills too so you can use that building too which is just down the road. There are social areas in that building. You need to get your card activated to do that which I haven't done yet. There needs to be a few more laundry machines and the price is pretty expensive for each use. Staff are lovely, really helpful!
The reception is only open for four hours a day. I think this should be extended as if you have issues that day you are most likely going to have wait until the following day to get it resolved. Apart from that everything here is perfect. The staff are super friendly and when they are around are always willing to speak to you. The place is very calm, so if you want to focus on studies and not too worried about social opportunities than this a great place for you.
I'm happy to be here. The team here are nice to speak to and everyone's a social bunch. Everyone get's a long and there are a few parties. However, at the same time it is good for studies.
The property is not very well organised. When I arrived there was someone in my room. I had to wait for 3 hours for this to be resolved. When I finally moved in my room was not in a good state. The walls needed a paint job as well. There is also 9 people in my flat which is a lot! Apart from that the building is quite nice and the facilities are good.
All staff are really friendly. Maintenance is very quick. Couldn't be happier with how my stay has gone. Recommend to everyone.
This is a great hall to stay at. When I compare it to Storthes Hall by Digs Students it's much better. Storthes Hall is good for nature and has great calm and relaxing environment but still is not as good as Firth Point. Storthes Hall is also too much money and not as good value.
It's really close to uni which is just round the corner. The rooms are clean and the layout of the rooms is good for everything a student needs. Staff deal with problems instantly which has lead to a great stay. The only thing i would say could be changed is the price could be dropped by a little.
It's a little worrying that people can easily enter the property without having a card. The walls are very thin which means slight noises can keep you up. We have one neighbor that does a work out in their room at night and is very loud. I've got really nice flatmates and the receptionists are great too. The laundry can be a real pain to use. You have to download an app which can be very difficult to use. If it doesn't work any reason you can't do your laundry. They should bring back the coins.
