I study a subject that requires me to go to North Campus and South Campus of the Uni of Manchester, this is very close to both of them (about 3 mins from South, 8 mins from North). The location besides that, isn't great... it's next to a rough neighbourhood and a dangerous park, and there are no shops in the immediate vicinity.. the closest supermarket is SPAR on Oxford Road and it takes about 6 minutes to get there. The nearest Sainsburys is 10 minutes away and the nearest Tesco Express is 8 minutes away. Good points: - Overall, I find the rooms comfortable and of a decent size. - Kitchens are sizeable given it's only for 4 or 3 people. - Maintenance is always incredibly responsive and any issue you have, you can report to the reception immediately and they'll fix it on the day (sometimes right away). - There are two separate 8-seater study rooms next to the reception, a big flat screen TV with sofas and cable so you can watch any channel you like. - There is also a ping pong table. - Cleaning ladies will also come once every two weeks to your kitchen and clean it. - It's very quiet and peaceful almost all the time. A few bad points are: - I find the decorations in the main reception area to be incredibly patronizing and embarassing with bright yellow walls and words in huge curvy fonts saying "Reception" "Wash" "Study", etc... they remodelled everything over the summer of 2014 and although it looks fresh and more modern it also looks like a primary classroom.. (even down to the stickers on the ping pong table saying "PING" and "PONG" on either side). Given that this hall is hosting people who range from 17-18 all the way to 30-35 (undergrad all the way to PhDs) it's not the ideal decor... - As I mentioned previously, the location. - The lift in A-block has been in and out of order at least 8 times in the past year and sometimes for 2-3 weeks at a time. (Note: there isn't even a lift in C-Block) - Safety-wise it's not ideal since you can easily have tail-gaiters who can just follow you in through the main door and they're in the building... anyone can do it, and I found some flat doors to be unlocked (it should have a card system where all doors are locked at all times when closed, activated by a system of layers of card-access, like in Student Castle). Block A is the most vulnerable since you only need to get past one locked door to go to any flat in the building.. if the flat door is unlocked you can go in... -.- I always keep mine locked, and I've seen police come in a few times to report stolen items. - Reception is not working after 5pm on Friday and only resume on Monday morning at 9pm and sometimes there is only one person there so if they need to do something in the building they have to lock the reception and they are gone for a while. I wrote a lot more on the bad points because I felt the need to be specific, but don't think this is a bad choice at all.. it's the choice I've gone with and it's the one I'm sticking with.. because the good points still outweigh bad points.

Great location. nice place to leave. convenient room, but no too spacious! The receptionists are friendly and helpful. The bad point is the lift in the A block which is out of service regularly! However I would recommend this accommodation to the new students.
