The Pinnacles, Sheffield

Before I came to uni I was terrified of the idea of living in halls, but after arriving and realising that it wasn't 'disgusting' and 'unclean' as everyone scares you into thinking, I began to enjoy myself. I have met a few of the best people, who I know will be friends for life and would happily do first year over and over again! When I arrived at the Pinnacles I was surprised to see the size of the room was actually decent, even with a 3/4 size bed in it! The size of the bathroom initially disappointed me (it's still a decent size, don't get me wrong, just small compared to home) but after living here, I learnt to realise you don't actually need that much bathroom space for one person. The bed was a lot comfier than I expected and I was supplied with a free mattress topper, even though I had already bought my own, but this made the hygiene of the accommodation seem a lot better! The desk provided me with a lot of space for working - more than I was expecting! And having a large window in the room gave the room a lot more light. The only downside to the room is that windows only open to a certain point due to safety precautions and this is a struggle sometimes due to how hot it seems to get here! The kitchen was 10x better than I thought it would be. The hobs and oven were a little worn it but that's expected, and after visiting other accommodations I realised that we definitely got off lightly! A lot of fridge and freezer space available, along with two cupboards and a drawer each, which was more than enough space! Nothing to fault with the kitchen or living area, great place to hang out with friends and flatmates. Only issue I would say is I heard from a lot of tenants that their bar stools broke easily, although this didn't happen to my flat. In a great location for walking to Sheffield Hallam University, City Campus. Took me about a 7-10 minute walk to get there which made 9am lectures easier to get to as there was no need to get up too early! The same walk was needed to get into the city centre, where all the shops and food establishments were. About a 15-20 minute walk required to get to the nearest 24 hour Tesco and PureGym North, which was extremely helpful. All staff were extremely helpful and very friendly, whether that was cleaning staff, reception staff, maintenance or security. Any issues we did have were sorted within an hour. If I was going to live in halls again I would definitely pick this accommodation again, despite paying £100 a week, I would definitely say it was worth it.
