West Village, Glasgow

I lived in west village for 2 years. The location is fantastic, really close to Glasgow Uni, Byres road and multiple supermarkets. Ensuite rooms are lovely, and if anything breaks you can report to reception and someone will come to fix it quickly. Good option if you are looking for a quiet place to live, I could not hear conversations going on in my neighbour's room which was great. If you are looking to meet new friends I don't really think living at West Village is a good option, there are a few small social events organised throughout the year but not many people turn up. The building is quite safe, however, its not difficult for a stranger to just wait for someone else to open doors into the opposite buildings. Unfortunately, the number of guests brought into the buildings are not monitored; for example, in my flat of 4 people - one constantly had their partner staying over meaning I had to live with 5 people. The gym is convenient but quite small, but I usually tried to go in the afternoon when it was quieter. The external company which provides wifi is pretty bad, for example, everyone was without wifi for 2 whole days, and there was no alternative wifi service provided by west village, this was extremely frustrating as it meant I could not get any work done. The washing machine service is also expensive, considering the rent we are already paying.
