UCAS Clearing 2025: What you need to know
Clearing is your chance to find a university place if you didn’t get the offers you wanted — or if you’re applying late.
UCAS Clearing 2025 opens on 5 July, and from that date, students can search and apply for available courses across UK universities.
Who can use Clearing?
You can apply through Clearing if:
- You didn’t receive any university offers.
- You didn’t meet the conditions of your firm or insurance offer.
- You’re applying after 30 June.
- You’ve changed your mind and want to apply somewhere else.

What happens on Results Day?
While Clearing officially opens on 5 July, it becomes essential on Results Day. That’s when students get their exam results and may need to quickly find an alternative course.
How long does Clearing stay open?
Clearing continues throughout the summer and into the autumn. Some courses fill up quickly, while others remain open until late September or even October, so it's worth checking regularly.
Final tip
Be prepared, stay calm, and check UCAS frequently for updates. A new opportunity might be just around the corner.
