Flow Student accommodation: everything students need to know
New to the UK student accommodation scene: everything you need to know about Flow Student
If you have been searching for student accommodation recently, you may have come across a new name: Flow Student.
Launched in early 2026, it is one of the freshest brands to enter the UK purpose-built student accommodation market — and it is growing fast.
Here is everything you need to know.
So, what is Flow Student?
Flow Student is a student accommodation brand backed by MCR Property Group, one of the UK's most active property investors. Rather than building from scratch, MCR has brought together an existing portfolio of well-located properties under a single brand — with a clear focus on modern, affordable and straightforward student living.
The idea is simple: fully furnished rooms, all bills included, no hidden costs, and spaces that actually work for students — whether you need somewhere quiet to study or a communal area to unwind with flatmates.
Where can you find Flow Student properties?
At launch, Flow Student operates across six university cities in England:
- Sheffield — three properties, from city centre studios on The Moor to a quieter community setting near Norfolk Park
- Liverpool — two properties, including a residence in the characterful Hope Street Quarter, within walking distance of Liverpool John Moores University
- Coventry — four properties in and around the city centre, with a mix of en-suite rooms and self-contained studios
- Nottingham — studio apartments a short walk from Nottingham Trent University
- Sunderland — a residential property within easy reach of the University of Sunderland
- Canterbury — a student village in a quieter part of the city, with good access to local universities
And if you are already thinking ahead, Flow Student has plans to expand into Bradford, Preston, Glasgow and Birmingham later in 2026 — so the options are only going to grow!
What types of rooms does Flow Student offer?
One of the strengths of Flow Student is the variety. Depending on the property and city, you can choose from:
- En-suite rooms — your own private bathroom, with a shared kitchen
- Non-en-suite rooms — a more affordable option with shared bathroom facilities
- Studios and studio apartments — fully self-contained with your own kitchen and bathroom, ideal for postgrads or anyone who values their independence
Prices start from under £100 per week at some locations, which is competitive for purpose-built student accommodation in these cities.
Is Flow Student right for you?
Flow Student positions itself around a no-fuss approach to student living — everything included, no surprises, well-located properties that put you close to your university and the city. If you are the kind of student who wants a clean, modern space without the stress of sorting bills or dealing with a private landlord, it is worth a look.
It is also a solid option if you are a postgraduate or returning student looking for more independence than a traditional first-year hall — the studio options in particular are well suited to that.
