I am writing this review to make people aware of the shortcomings they should expect in Bridge House.

Poor wi-fi connection that affected my studying and because of that I often had to go to the University Library after midnight in order to prepare for my exams.

We were sent e-mails in which the staff warned that 'If anyone is found to be smoking anywhere apart from here (where the cigarette ashtray/bin is fitted). They will be charged as well as their guarantor and University being contacted.' I agree with their warning except from the fact that such claims that they will contact Universities are extremely serious. I think that they do not have such rights and that merely makes our experience more stressful.

There is no security guard during night-time. That is a problem not only because Glasgow is one of the most crimonal cities in Scotland but also because we were often forced to leave the building during the fire alarm testings and one night there were no staff members (as always) and when the fire alarm turned on for no reason, all students went out and we did not know what to do. Now imagine being 19 year old international student that is being stressed constantly, also not knowing the laws, not knowing whether their (the staff members) attitude and actions could be charged and who you should complain to.

I experienced an absolutely illegal situation that involved a big amount of money: i was unfairly charged by one of the staff members (the explanation was: 'I am afraid that I made a mistake and we cannot return your money.' and I did not know what to do and who to inform about that. So, I talked with the manager but she responded the same way.

We receive e-mails about 'required room access' (sometimes twice in a week) and that contributes to the stressful environment that they create because I have to think about so many other issues such as assingments, tutorials, lectures, for which I have to prepare.

I am also disappointed by this attitude because they have never informed us about the noise that was there during some kind of renovation of the building. In fact, AGAIN I had to leave the accommodation and go to the University. (Considering the amount of money I pay for my room), I would at least want to be able to study there as being not constantly disturbed.

Also, the ventilation system in the bathroom turns on automatically whenever you open the door which is ok but it takes about 20 minutes and more after that in order automatically to turn off.

Not to mention the constant moody responses and 'cold politeness' of the staff.

Overall, I would have had much more pleasant experience in Bridge House if I had received the serveice I had been paying for.

Perfect location, right next to uni and only 40 mins walk from town, 10-15 minute taxi ride (taxi rank very close by).

Everything is clean and well maintained and the staff are all lovely and helpful.

Events are frequent and well organised and give residents a chance to socialise together.

The study areas are quiet and out of the way and provide a great working environment.

The gym facilities are also well maintained and easy to use.

Would definitely recommend to any first year students.

I've quite enjoyed living here the past 6 months or so. The location is great and everything is easily accessible! The rooms are really well designed but there could be a bit more storage as there's no where to put a suitcase! It's nice they try to put on events but the building isn't very sociable and you hardly see anyone about which is the only downside I would say!
