Overall, honestly, I wouldn't live here again. The walls are too thin to concentrate if you like to work in silence or if you like your music on loudly the whole flat can hear it. Conversations can be heard even in the bathroom from the neighboring room. Fire alarms are another issue, they have been going off way too many times at stupid times of the day and the lack of security and CCTV has made the fire alarms keep going off with people setting them off without consequence. With security the gate at the front entrance has been broken for nearly 2 months now which means people can just walk to into the accommodation after they wait for someone to open the automatic doors. The arrangement of the TV is fixed and in an awkward corner of the wall where you can't fit a HTMI cable or even turn it to the side so people sat at the table can see the TV. Cost wise, it's way to overpriced for what I have been paying however they have dropped the rent price for 2017-2018. Parking is at £15 a week which is way too expensive. Its not been all bad however, Emma has been lovely and has been so helpful for the past year and she has put in a lot of effort to put on events for us tenants. The location is great, its a short walk to town and campus which is a positive about living at Leighton. Getting things repaired have been quick and easy to report which is another good thing.
I had to move into halls part way through the academic year due to personal reasons and the staff at Leighton Halls honestly could not have done anything more to help me move in as soon as possible. They will help you out with any issues that you have as quick as they can. Leighton is located right next to loads of the university buildings, the gym and aldi, so you don't have to go far for anything. The biggest downside is there is very limited parking available.
I love living here. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, and it's just a positive atmosphere to live in. I like the safety that I have here, especially with being away from my home and family. I've booked again to live here next year because I really enjoy living here and have also recommended 3 of my friends to live here too!
It's right next to the uni for me so great location, the only issue is fire alarms that happen alot this year. But as a whole I'm really glad I live here
My overall experience of Leighton halls has been great, i am at the end of my first year of living here and have chosen to re book as i feel these halls are the best value for money. These halls are located in a great spot - you are never too far away from anything from the university campus, the gym and shops. The halls are also gated which makes you feel safer. When comparing this to other halls, at night its quiet so you have no trouble sleeping. I would recommend living here over anywhere else. Finally, the management staff are extremely helpful and make it a much better place to live, they also accept deliveries for you which makes life a lot easier (only on weekdays).
The level of security at Leighton was worryingly poor as the car gates to enter the accommodation have been broken now for at least five weeks and were still broken when I left. Anyone can enter the building by following another student in. I saw no security patrolling the building as I have at other university accommodations. The door to my flat didn't have an automatic lock system meaning that people were leaving it open all of the time and even through the night. There have been a numerous amount of fire activation's throughout my stay to the point where the fire station were only sending out minimum crews and the number of people coming out were less each time. With the lack of CCTV footage it caused problems to find the reasons behind the disruptions. There is no parking available unless you book a space in advance. The quality of the rooms are low. The walls and furniture have holes,dents and stains. The carpet was worn and had old stains from previous owners. The walls and ceiling are very thin as you could hear peoples conversations as well as them using the toilet. It was good to have receptions staff on site, however most day the office was shut due to the staff working shorter hours than stated. The location was very good as its on campus of the university and its only a short walk into town. Overall this accommodation is overpriced for the quality of the rooms and the furniture.
This is a great place to live, the management team are amazing and can't do enough for you. I feel incredibly safe here with all the gates and key fob doors. The 24hr laundry room is great too. The beds are so comfortable, however it is difficult to find a fitted sheet to fit them because of their awkward size. The only things I would suggest improving is the bathrooms and the price of parking. I have stayed in two rooms here and in both, the flooring in the bathroom has been coming up. Also the parking is abit too expensive at £15 a week. But overall, this is a great place to stay. The staff are so friendly and helpful (we love Emma in the office) and it is a great location too.
This is my first year leaving in Leighton Halls, and i have also decided to live here next year for the following reasons: 1. Friendly staff - communicate well on the Facebook page and host lots of events to participate in 2. Best location 3. Good sized kitchen/rooms 4. Worth the money However the cons: 1. Walls are thin 2. Cant collect parcels on weekends 3. Fire alarm goes off far to often (99% of the time not a real fire) 4. Rooms are not very fashionable
Really am having a good time here at Leighton halls. It's very comfy, close to uni and safe.
Been here for a year now and it's a great place to live. The rooms are pretty good for the price, you get your own personal bathroom with a shared kitchen. Or you can get your own personal studio. There's only one problem with this place and thats the fire alarm. It goes off way too much and can sometimes wake you up at 4 am. Pros- Really good place to live, close to the university, nice rooms and bathrooms. Cleaners every 2 weeks and living room/Kitchen for each flat with its own TV. Con's - Fire alarm goes off atleast twice a month. Tad expensive. Noisy drunk people coming home from nights out can be a pain.

The management team are lovely and really make the extra effort setting up events for us to take part in and remembering our names. It's great value as you get 24/7 security, post/package collection and a cleaner. the only problems I've had with it are the thin walls (being close to a rail way), and the other tenants setting the fire alarms off. I'd definitely Recommend it, and I've already booked on for next year!
excellent place to live, very close to campus and a great price
Although this is a very nice place to live in the warmer months, during the winter it is very cold becaise there is a draft thats by the windows, ita not double glazing and if you have mesay flat mates you will not want to live there. On a positive note the are all friendly and you make/meet some really good friends here if you go to the mingle night they have ove made a huge group of friends being at leighton and although its not been a great place to live its still one of the better places. To improve they could sory out the drafts in the flats/rooms and then it will he a perfect place to live.
Good quality student halls in the perfect location, across the road from some of the main uni buildings. There is no on-site security after office opening hours however the site is well secured. Is a good value for money in comparison to other halls in Preston.

I have never in my life expirianced such bad accomidation. Allow me to list everything that is wrong with leighton hall. People use the fire exits to go out to smoke often leaving the fire exits open and allowing anyone to walk in. There are only 4 washing machines for all of leighton hall. The washing machines are poor quality they have shrunk my designer clothes and now leighton hall owns me just under £1000 in compenstion. They will not repair my broken kitchen unit. We got mold in out flat and it ruined my suit case and they blamed it on my and my girlfriend and refuse to compensate me for my suit case. There is no parking, well there is about 10 spaces. The radioator is a joke its only slightly bigger than an A4 piece of paper and its under the desk so it heats up the desk instead of the room. The heater in a studio flat is expected to head the living room, the bath room and the kitchen thats a joke. The flat is not designed to accomidate two people, there is only one wardrobe and it connot hold the clothes of two people. The internet is terrible on a good day you might get 5mbps and you can only have two devices connected at a time.The rent payments are not distributed evenly making it hard to afford basic need.(Sem 1 and Sem 2 payments are 50% larger than the Sem 3 payment). You are expected to pay almost £600 even before your first term payment comes in, this consists of £250 booking fee and 4 weeks worht of rent upfornt. You can see why this accomidation is so cheap its because its so shit.The only redeeming feature is that leighton hall is across the street from the university and the staff are nice. Not worth the money at all! Rooms are horribly laid out, bed is an awful size you cant get a bed sheet that fits and they are just awkwardly uncomfortable! Paint looks like it's been painted by a 9 year old kid! The paint is thin and it's all over the light fixtures! Internet is not good at all lucky if you get a Internet speed above 5mb/s Security is very low! Anyone can get in easily, all you have to do is wait by the gate for five minuets and some will let you in! No parking what so ever! They have 10 car parking spaces but they always say they are full and you shout have booked in advance yet I've never seen the car park half ful! Awkward location Staff are friendly but are only there 8 hour a day Monday-Friday No security what so ever Fire alarm goes off every week at stupid times The walls and ceilings are too thin! You can hear everything the person next to you says and somebody five+ rooms away using the bathroom! Parcel situation is awkwardly! They take the parcels for you and you have to wait a good couple hours after the delivery before you are allowed to actually pick them up! There is no tv areal built into the room so you have to bring a portable areal and you can't get a good signal Phone signal is poor I get 1/5 bars! Can't think of a good thing about this accommodation! It's sooooooooooo overpriced
Safety here is shocking. Every other accommodation in Preston has full time security staff. Here at Leighton there are two middle aged women in the office up to half 4 and from then til 8am the next morning there is no security at all on sight so students are left to there own devices. People are free to walk into the accommodation. All you need to do is follow someone who lives here in. Rooms are horribly decorated with one thin coat of paint on each wall. (i can see the bare wall underneath) Always something wrong either in my room ie light breaks, radiator falls off the wall! Take ages to fix things. For example it took them 8 weeks to fix my radiator. Staff are rude and not helpful, no leeway or help with things. Very expensive for what you actually get. The only good thing is the location and thats only good for me personally because my uni building is across the road. They say they have a secure bike shed when i have had my bike stolen from there at 11pm at night. Jumped over the back fence which is 5 foot high. Staff here didnt seem to care and were no help at all with capturing the theif. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!
Reception staff are nice, All parcels are delivered to reception which is only open 9-4 Monday-Friday any parcels after this or over the weekend will not be collected. Bedrooms are very basic, although they have enough storage for the average student. Personally my bathroom is old, shower and taps are leaking black gunk, and trimming is coming off from around the floor. Walls are too thin, you can hear someone use the toilet five flats across. The sofas in the living area are very low and uncomfortable. From the perspective of a 6 person flat; two sofas sit four and table sits four, so there is never enough room for everyone to sit at the table together. The atmosphere is not very good, I'velived in halls before and everybody chilled outside and had parties and everyone said hey to eachother, here you're lucky if someone smiles at you. Location is good. Safety is very good, although everybody just opens the door for anyone so would still recommend locking your bedroom doors when leaving your room.

Pros: Great location in relation to the campus Decent sized rooms Small double (4ft) beds En-suite Decently sized kitchens Cons: Thin walls between rooms Can only have two devices on the WiFi for free Phone signal seems to be quite bad inside the building (EE/Orange) I stayed here during my first year at UCLan ('14 -> '15). There isn't much else to mention other than what I've said above. I will say that the internet is odd, though. There are two networks available, WiFi and wired ethernet. The WiFi is free to use (for two devices, it costs £15 to add more) and has a speed of ~10mpbs. The wired ethernet is also free to use and has a speed of 12mbps, which can be upgraded to 30, 70 or 100mbps. If you upgrade your wired connection speed, it doesn't affect the speed of the WiFi. All the internet is provided through a service called Ask4.
I have lived here almost 6 years, and can only ring praises about it. Coming from London and adjusting to Preston was not easy bit the flatmates I was placed with were on the same course as me and this made my living out experience even better. Ideal location for pharmacy/science students - it takes me less than 1 minute to get to 95% of my scheduled classes. The lovely ladies in the office are always polite and at hand for help and assistance, what ever your issues or concerns may be. Town is situated 15 minutes walk away and the nearest grocery shop is less than 5 minutes away. Highly recommended student living. Ensuite too-perfect!
I picked Leighton Hall because I was applying through clearing and all the uni halls were pretty much fill. I also wanted to have an ensuite! I found my flat mates on the facebook page before moving in, which made it a lot easier. The rooms have good size ensuites & and good size beds, there's also a wonderfully big desk! The staff are lovely and there's always events happening. Overall I'd say it's a great place to live, certainly good value for money! I plan to stay here next year as well.
Value for money, bigger bed than the usual student accommodations. near the university (across the road). Very near city center. Staff is very accommodating and nice. Parcels delivered to reception, so you do not have to be here for delivery (helps a lot!!).
Leighton halls is a perfect accommodation for a social environment, everyone is friendly & welcoming to their new environment (especially for last years). The price is very reasonable for the luxuries you receive. I can easily say I'll be staying here in the near & distant future.
This hall is situated right next to the main uni buildings with easy access to town, shops, other university and more importantly pubs and clubs! The site is well maintained and the management team are always at hand to help out with out of office hours staff at a phone call. I will always recommend this halls!
Very friendly staff, very helpful, clean flat, big very spacious, luckily managed to get one of the big kitchens. Overall would stay again.

I enjoy living in Leighton halls. The staff are friendly and helpfull. I love my double size bed and en-suite bathroom. Kitchen is big and TV is a huge plus. I also like that there is sofas in the kitchen, so I can spend time with my friends. I would recommend this hall.

In my first year of university I was put into university owned halls. They were okay to live in but I soon discovered Leighton Halls. In my second year and third year I decided to live there and it was a great decision. The staff are very friendly, all beds are doubles & it's a very safe environment. I would highly recommend living here if possible.
The halls are in a very good location. It is very close to all the main university buildings and close to all the shops. The room and shared communal areas are very spacious. If anything needs fixing in your room the management are always available.

The rooms are bigger than competing halls', with a lot more storage space. The standard beds are bigger than the average, and you don't have to pay extra for them. The halls themselves are quiet at night compared to others so you have no trouble sleeping, and they host events such as game nights, movie nights, etc to promote socialising across the building. The site is v. secure, with two gates required to pass before gaining entry, and CCTV on top. The main university building is right across the road so you can get to lectures in under ten minutes. Unlike some halls, the staff here are very friendly and are always happy to help, they sign for your parcels and notify you promptly, and maintenance issues are addressed often within the same day. There are cheaper halls (which you get what you pay for!), but there are also considerably more expensive halls, and in terms of value for money Leighton Halls is unrivalled.
By far the best halls in Preston i have seen. And i've seen a few. Leighton hall is, in my opinion, the only place to consider living if you are new to Preston. The Location is perfect. I can leave the halls five minutes before my lectures and still get there with a minute or so to spare. The site, while small compared to some of the other halls, is very homily. The staff are extremely friendly and any maintenance issues are dealt with very quickly. A light went out in my room and after i reported it, they had fixed it within the hour. The rooms come with larger beds than most halls, for no extra price and the included en-suite in every room is extremely handy. The site is very secure, with a fob and key system which show you when and who came on to the site. The visible cameras make the atmosphere feel slightly safer, which is always a good thing. I have made several great friends since living here and i look forward to the rest of my stay here. 10/10, staying here again next year, not one single problem. Would recommend to anyone!
Leighton halls are really good value for money! Someone in the office to sign for your parcels all day and the building is very secure! Living room/kitchen is spacious with a freeview tv. Living here next year again as its stress free and has a really good atmosphere throughout the building.
