I want to start off by saying obviously my experience in this accommodation had been tainted by the fact that it was in a year of covid. And I want to pre-face this by saying we have not been allowed back into our accommodation since Christmas so this is just from the first few month of living there. But ether way here is my honest review, positive bits first. The room itself has a lot of sockets which I was pleasantly surprised about. However, a lot of them didnโ€™t work properly or simply sounded like they were sizzling and about to explode. Which obviously is not good. Personally I didnโ€™t experience this but a lot of my flatmates and people in my block had these issues. The heaters in the rooms work pretty well and generally warm up the room very fast. The actual shower is pretty good, the shower pressure is nice and it warms up really quickly and gets really hot. Itโ€™s generally a decent accommodation, if you want to go out and do something you always can, but if you donโ€™t itโ€™s no stress. You can really tailor your living situation to what you like to do. But if you really like quiet and hate people partying and being loud, this is not the best accommodation for that. But my praises for the accommodation stop there. There are two colour paint in rooms where there are patches of lighter paint to cover imperfections, thats painted very badly. They left my package downstairs one night for anyone to take, without informing me. It has a VERY UNCOMFORTABLE MATTRESS, you need a topper otherwise you will never get a good nightโ€™s sleep. There is no mirror in the room except for the en-suite, just something to bare in mind. Thereโ€™s no way in hell they cleaned our rooms and the en-suite before we came, the first time I properly cleaned the bathroom it was vile and the brand new sponge that I took to clean it came out looking like it had been used for the last decade totally brown and gunk and all in all disgusting. If your unlucky enough to have a room facing the inside of Leodis (other blocks) it is loud at night, the windows do block out noise (if you want some air while you sleep however you can hear everything as if it was just outside your window) but it is still pretty loud and I would recommend buying earplugs to counteract this. I can only imagine how much worse it would be in a normal year without COVID. You can pretty much say goodbye to a good nights sleep. And if your room faces the benches, you are screwed, I do not recommend it get VERY loud at night. Unless you get a room that has direct sunlight, in general itโ€™s very dark all year round, you have to have the lights on in your room for pretty much the whole day. You also feel very isolated, even if all your roommates have the doors to their rooms open it still feels like a correctional facility. There are also Silverfish in the bathroom, although they did bring in an extermination team. But some people said this was not effective and still saw them after. The room doesnโ€™t came with a bin or a toilet brush, despite that being advertised. The walls are very thin, you can pretty clearly hear everything around you, ether outside above or next to you. Also if your room is closest to the door of the flat you will have the worst internet connection. I had to email the IT staff multiple times until they actually fixed the internet by adding an extra wireless point in my room. The Kitchen is very dirty, our microwave and cooker didnโ€™t look like they were ever cleaned. Both our fridges have not worked since we moved in, although we asked multiple times to get them repaired. One fridge has been been freezing food that you put into them rather than keeping it cool. And the other is leaking and itโ€™s not coming from any food in there, in addition to that our kitchen light broke within the first week. Our oven also stopped working within twice within the first two weeks. The floor in our kitchen is grim, we cleaned it with strong bleach twice and it still looked like it did the day we moved in. The staff are very rude, most of the time. Their job is to help you but this often seems like a chore rather than what they are paid to do. They donโ€™t have a vacuums, literally told us to clean our whole flat with just a dustpan and brush, which is ridiculous, and you canโ€™t ever really clean things properly like that. For two days in a row they switched off all the water without giving us a heads up, although they didnโ€™t know this would have to happen due to some other repair works, but still. The wardens are strict and sometimes come to bother you for no reason at all, they walk around and the slightest noise they hear (even your flat just watching a movie) will mean that they feel the need to inspect it.
