I've been assaulted in this space and no one gave a shit. One of the worst places that anyone could choose to live in London, absolute worst. Just today they stopped the supply of water at 9 am, we haven't gotten it back yet and it's been 12 hours. They said they're gonna stop the water tomorrow again!!! So what bro you expect us to pee into jars and take dumps at work? Not to mention the fact that there is never good maintenance, either one of the lifts never works, the reception is absolutely both helpless AND clueless, they put a few rods to a corner and called it a bike parking area when it is supposed to be called a junkyard and even complaints of physical assault are never taken seriously.
Don't come here and waste your money. It has been 30 hours without a single drop of water. Go to hell!
They charged me ยฃ185pw for a room, then reduced the cost by ยฃ35pw and refused to change my costs as I have signed a contract. Thieves. DO NOT rent a room with Unite Students. This is before moving in. Having read some awful reviews online, I am absolutely dreading it now. BIG mistake.
I stayed at North lodge for 1.5 years and here is my review. Pros: -5 minutes to Tottenham Hale station and Tesco express (open until 11 pm) -8 minutes to the retail park which you can find anything from such as home goods Lidl, Asda, Wilko -It takes only 20 min to go to Oxford St. Victoria line is really fast and handy. -The area is safe, with lots of students and families. -Customer service was great. Cons: -Cleaning issue (cleaning lady does not take out the trash in the flat kitchens unlike the procedure at most of the university accommodations, and you share your flat with at least 9 people who will probably make a mess in the kitchen, not clean after themselves and not take out the trash) it was really annoying. And, the kitchen only cleaned out once in 2 weeks which is definitely not enough. -Wifi was really slow -Every Monday fire alarm goes off and wakes you up at 10 or 11 am. It was really annoying. - Expensive.
The location is okay, close to a couple unis, and good tube and rail links. However the area itself is not desirable, and it's hardly what you'd imagine London living to be like. The rooms themselves are fine, pretty standard for student accommodation. However it's the general facilities and staff that let this place down. I recommend choosing somewhere closer to London that preferably isn't Unite.
good halls. Tennis courts and football ground in a nearby park. Tesco closes at 11 pm. After 11 pm, no shops open nearby. Gaming toom is fun with a pool table but could include more games like table tennis or table football. Overall i am happy with the halls from ucl student.
The rooms and rest of building is quite nice, how ever the general up keep of the building and the quality of the appliances, fixtures, furniture etc is poor. The taps and showers are often not in proper working order, too stiff taps that sometimes don't turn off, the sofas in the lounges are not hard wearing and the mattresses in the rooms are very uncomfortable, there are supposed to be cleaners in our kitchens every couple of weeks, I've been here 5 months and they have been and cleaned here once. The safety is terrible just about anyone can get in, a few weeks ago three mid-20s aged men were in the building threaten ending to stab a couple of the lads that live here who were actually generally minding their own business, the area obviously isn't great being tottenham, how ever they got through 4 doors which needed a key to get in so god knows how they were even in the building, the company should consider higher security. No one ever answers the phone at reception and there is only about 1 or 2 members of staff who actually speak to us all as residents, sometimes there are no members of staff on the premesis, shocking ratings for a small box room which costs 169ยฃ a week. On the plus side, it's close to a tesco express, tube station and a couple of shops close by with fast food, and you make some friends whilst living in student halls, you will also make enemies lol.
Abysmal service. Fake security guard in apartment. Made reception aware. Confirmed with reception that no such security guard existed. They claimed they have "every single thing under control" - "that I should not worry myself about security". They did not take me seriously. Having felt ignored, I then contacted UNITE's 24 hour hotline, stating that there had been a security breach in my apartment. That I had talked to reception... They claimed they could do nothing. This is because the security breach had already taken place. They recommended that I contact reception (again!). I restated that I had contacted reception. They did not take me seriously either. UNITE security is very lax. They do not take breaches seriously. Even when burglaries are occurring in other accommodation buildings rented out by them (such as in Bristol) - they do not learn. They do not improve. UNITE seems apathetic about potentially exposing its tenants to burglars and rapists.
Very social, the management organize lots of events and make good opportunities to meet new people. North Lodge goes beyond accommodation. However sometimes they don't know how to deal with things properly.
Too many parties so it can get a bit noisy. There's also too much weed which smells a lot. The price is fine but it goes up next year. The floors and cielings are thin so you can hear people above and below you. There needs to be more kitchen inspections they they are kept clean, management needs to take more control. I would recommend CCTV.
Receptionists are brilliant but there are issues at head office.
North lodge works and is good for first year international students. Although, the area is boring so you have to go somewhere if you want to do something.
Near the tube which is good. I booked non-smoking but still got a smoking area. Some students put plastic around the smoke detector so it doesn't work.
Not very social but still nice.
Friendly staff
It's good because it can be quite but still have parties.
I'm happy with my stay here.
